The Quality Assurance and Technical Services Department was introduced at the Computer Center under the Deans’ Council decision on October 15, 2012. The Department has the obligations to apply quality standards and procedures, document and follow up different tasks and provide IT services in a quality manner, contribute to the organization of administrative procedures and interactions among different departments, and to specify tasks and document work procedures.



The Quality Assurance and Technical Services Department has the following Tasks:

1. Promote the culture of quality among the staff of the Center and organize courses and meetings in the field of quality assurance.

2. Develop general procedures to implement quality assurance policies at the Center.

3. Trace equipment needed for improving the quality of services.

4. Collect data and information required for quality management.

5. Prepare an annual plan for total quality management at the center.

6. Guarantee the continuity of assessment and quality assurance.

7. Identify the actual reality of the quality of services offered by the center.

8. Prepare and follow-up development plans and display the results to the management.

9. Oversee the preparation of the Center’s strategic plan.

10. Provide support and advice concerning the quality field.

11. Oversee the preparation of the Center’s policies in collaboration with all departments.

12. Identify gaps that prevent achieving quality through cooperation with the Center’s departments and the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center of the University.

13. The preparation of quality forms and feedback questionnaires.

14. Prepare annual reports on the achievements of the administration.

15.    Facilitate the daily use of the internet and software.

16.    Facilitate the use of labs for teaching and practical exercises.

17.    Provide services relating to online registration and add/drop process for students.

18.    Student courses.

19.    Running and maintaining desktops.

20.    Organize the entry of students to the labs and perform the booking process for students.

21.    Ensure the validity of devices and report malfunctions.

22.    Ensure the validity of software and update them when needed.

23.    Ensure the proper use of devices.

24. Assist students on the use of hardware or software.

25. Receive inquiry phone calls from users and service seekers, the officer attempts to solve the problem through phone conversations, if not viable; the officer transfers the problem to the concerned department.

26. Follow-up the service request till it’s completed and record the name of the service provider and time needed to solve the problem.

27. Follow-up software license and maintenance agreements.

28. Develop hardware, accessories and supplies specifications.

29. Study bids and proposals related to computers.

30. Receipt of tender documents and ensure the tender specifications are in compliance with the required specifications.

31. Follow-up suppliers and ensure delivery of free maintenance.

32. Release performance bond or guarantees.

33. Follow-up with maintenance companies.

34. Use all available means to solve problems, and provide timely and effective performance.

35. Monitor the work of servers and avoid slow-downs.

36.Documentation and record-keeping of problem cases for reference when needed.

37. Arrange with specialists or companies to perform periodic maintenance of the hardware.



Quality Assurance and Security Department

The Systems and Development Department consists of a number of sections which are responsible for following up maintenance and operation phases of the following systems:


(1)    Students Information System: the System includes a number of subsystems, are the registration system, university fees system, student affairs system (loans, grants, student housings, student clinic, student activities, clubs, alumni ring and yearbook), postgraduate admission and grades systems.


(2)    Financial and Inventory System: includes a group of subsystems, such as the budget system (bank accounts and authorized signatories, sponsors, sub-receipts books, incoming and outgoing), estimated budget system, funds system (marine Station, health insurance fund / accounting, investment fund, end of service indemnity fund, student loans fund, housing fund, provident fund, donation fund, university club), Center of Consultation system and the inventory system.


 (3) Human Resources and Payroll System: includes the HR system, payroll system (costs, financial control, health insurance, provident, investment, housing, university club / loans, mobile phones) and the internal and external scholarships (Master, PhD) system.


(4) Other systems:

Including the following:
Library System (Bibliography system, borrow and return, periodicals, dedications, exchange, purchase, cataloging and classification, book binding, manuscripts, Academy of Arabic Language, Model School / bibliography and borrowing systems).

The Systems and Development Department has the following tasks:


1.    Develop plans to organize and follow-up the implementation of tasks carried out by the Department.

2.    Build up a comprehensive plan to develop the duties of the Department.

3.    Study, analyze, design and develop detailed requirements of new systems.

4.    Identify and develop the specifications of the software required in the operating systems.

5.    Study, analyze and design requirements for maintenance of existing systems, and identify detailed specifications desired for the maintenance of software.

6.    Conduct a feasibility study to assess the feasibility of computerizing administrative work at the University.

7.    Design and manage databases in coordination with the Infrastructure and Networks Department.

8.    Preparation of end user authorization for systems and databases in collaboration with the Infrastructure and Networks Department.

9.    Supervise and follow-up integration of systems.

10. Supervise and follow-up implementation of systems.

11. Examine performance of software (Application Tuning) to improve the performance of the whole system.

12. Perpetuate operations and maintenance of existing administrative systems.

13. Conduct a conformity assessment for completed projects to make sure that they match the requirements of the users.

14. Oversee the operations (Data Migration) in case of system development.

15. Prepare user manuals.

16. Provide training for end-users.

17. Provide documentation for all tasks carried out by the Department.

Systems and Development Department

The Infrastructure and Networks Department is responsible for overseeing the wired and wireless networks infrastructure operations. It consists of two sections, the Wired and Wireless Networks Section and the Internet and Safety Section.


The Department follow-up and executes the following tasks:

(1) Develop the existing wired network by replacing the sub and main switches with modern ones and of greater capacities and competence.

(2) Provide internal networks for the most important buildings in the University and provide backup paths.

(3) Provide connectivity service for buildings under construction (Faculty of Arts, the Admission and Registration building, Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, housing, Jerash and Ammon student housings).

(4) Preparation of additional computer labs to meet the needs of greater number of students and conduct more computerized examinations.

(5) Follow-up on internal network administration software to detect faults and bottlenecks.

(6) Networking with off-campus units (Faculty of Physical Education, Agricultural Research Station in Jordan Valley) and provide those units with Internet service.

(7) Installation of new lines.

(8) Provide wireless internet in classrooms, hallways and students gathered points to serve the students and faculty.

(9) Provide fixed and wireless phone services through the university network.

(10) Provide Internet service through two tracks, the major university network and the alternative network (Telecommunications Company).

(11) Networking the horizon - Library project.

(12) Provide Cache Engines to improve network efficiency and speed the exchange of information for Internet users.

(13) Provide video-conferencing service via ​​the internal and external networks.

(14) Provide protection and Internet security, through the application of network safety tools.


Infrastructure and Networks Department

The Database and Data Retrieval Department is responsible for ensure maximum up time for the database so that it is always available when needed. This will typically involve proactive periodic monitoring and troubleshooting. Other closely related tasks and roles are database security, database monitoring and troubleshooting, and planning for future growth.

The Database and Data Retrieval Department has the following tasks:

1. Install, Update and Upgrade Database Server and Application Tools

2. Monitor Databases and Databases Systems Performance, Availability and Capacity for Improvements for Several Users

3. Backup and Restore Databases

4. Controlling and Monitoring User Access and Prepare End user Authorization for Systems and Databases

5. Develop a Password Security Policy

6. Export and Import databases

7. Configuration and Deployment on Application Servers.

8. Configure and Manage Databases.

9. Diwan System Administration and support.

10. Omnidocs Administration and Support​.
