Lecture "The technique of blood stem cell transplantation and its role in the treatment of scleroderma and acquired immune diseases

At the invitation of the Cell Therapy Center and in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan and the University Hospital of Jordan, a lecture was given on "The technique of blood stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and its role in the treatment of MS and acquired autoimmune diseases." Presented by Professor John Snowden Professor of Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation and Professor Basil Sherrak, Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Sheffield in England.

The two guests reviewed the results of the clinical studies, as well as the review of the European bone marrow transplant registry. The results, according to this record, indicate that approximately 1000 patients with MS were registered for using this technique, with very encouraging results and superior to the results of any drug used for this disease.

The two experts confirmed that the most patients who benefit from this method are those who are less than 45 years of age and those who do not have severe disabilities due to the disease. The registry showed hundreds of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSC) who underwent HSCT with very good results. Additional autoimmune diseases who were treated with HSCT were also discussed.

Both experts are considered a reference point in their fields at the University of Sheffield.
