Advanced Documentation

Dr Carlo Bianchini from La Spienza University, Rome, delivered a lecture, Thursday, 12 January, 2017 at the Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research of Jordan University. Dr Bianchini focused on the importance of advanced documentation in restoration using 3D scanning. He spoke to students from the Hamdi Mango Center on the importance of this kind technology starting from the sketching and photographing to the modeling, treating and data analysis using examples of the Amman Nymphaeum, Jerash and the ancient theater in Petra. Dr Bianchini did a full analysis and treatment of the 3D digital scanning made of the Amman Nymphaeum through the scanner provided by the Jordan Department of Archaeology. In attendance at the lecture were the Amman Nymphaeum Project Manager Dr Abeer Al-Bawab, Prof of Physical Chemistry at UJ, Dr Mohammad El Khalili, onsite project supervisor and Mr Nizar Adarbeh, concerned with rehabilitation and sustainability of the site. After the lecture a Q&A session followed where students interacted with Dr Bianchini on the importance of documentation and digital scanning.
