The U.S. State Department Environment, Science, Technology, and Health Hub for the Middle East and North Africa created the Women in Science Hall of Fame initiative in 2010 to honor outstanding women scientists in the region who serve as role models for the next generation of women scientists.
The U.S. Department of State announced the 2014 honorees for the Women in Science Hall of Fame initiative. U.S. embassies across the Middle East and North Africa have recognized 11 accomplished scientists this year for their outstanding achievements in the advancement of science and for encouraging young women and girls to pursue education and careers in the fields of science and technology.
This year (2014) Prof Abeer Al Bawab from University of Jordan is among the eleven women scientists.
