The center increasingly gets the attention and support of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bin Talal. The center was founded in 2006 after it was originally a program in Women's Studies that was established in 1998. The Program grew to become a department for Women Studies, and then it became a specialized center in women's issues at both the local and the global levels.
