The Middlebury School in Jordan is designed for undergraduate students in U.S. universities who have reached the Upper-Intermediate or Advanced level in their Arabic language studies. The program is based at the Language Center of the University of Jordan, Jordan’s oldest public 4-year institution of higher education. Excellent local faculty instruct students in a combination of language and content courses, including Modern Standard Arabic, Jordanian Colloquial Arabic, and courses in social and physical sciences. Additionally, students enjoy substantial immersion into Jordanian society and culture via living with Arab families, having local student mentors, traveling in Jordan, and volunteering with local organizations. Through these activities, along with a strenuous academic program, the Middlebury Program seeks to offer students the opportunity for meaningful interaction with Arabic language and Arab culture.
