The University of Jordan, represented by the Women's Studies Center, participated in the activities of the Tenth General Conference of the Arab Women Organization, held in Cairo under the patronage of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The conference was held under the title: "Communication, Empowerment, and Protection for Women and Girls from Cyber Violence and Violence Resulting from Technology and Artificial Intelligence." It witnessed wide participation from experts from various Arab countries.
Dr. Amal Al-Awawdeh, Director of the Women's Studies Center, presented a working paper during the third session titled: "Women and Cyberspace: Reality and National Challenges." In her paper, she discussed "Women and the Cyberspace in Jordan," reviewing the growing challenges women face in the digital space, including cybercrimes and forms of digital violence, while offering practical solutions to enhance protection in light of the rapid technological advancements.
The conference included the presentation of research papers by several Arab experts, addressing the reality of cyber violence against women and girls, alongside an overview of efforts to combat this phenomenon and recommendations to mitigate it.
At the end of the session, the importance of enhancing Arab cooperation for exchanging experiences and technologies was emphasized, ensuring a safe digital environment that promotes women's empowerment and protects them from all forms of technological violence.
