The Women's Studies Center organized a lecture titled: “Preparing Public Budgets in Line with Meeting Women's Needs." The lecture was held as part of the Gender and Sustainable Development course, taught by Professor Dr. Amal Al-Khourouf. It was delivered by Ms. Lama Mohammad Omar, Director of the Health and Social Development Sector at the General Budget Department.

 

The lecture addressed the importance of integrating the needs of both women and men at all stages of public budget preparation, in a way that contributes to achieving gender equality and justice in resource distribution, in alignment with Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 

It also reviewed the stages of budget preparation and the mechanisms for incorporating women's empowerment at each stage, with the aim of reducing the gender gap and enhancing opportunities for women and girls to access services and resources.

 

The session witnessed notable engagement from the female students, reflecting growing interest in gender equality issues within fiscal policy frameworks.
