Specialists and representatives of government agencies and associations have agreed that it is imperative to improve and develop the mechanisms in which the process of transporting Al-Zebar to the designated areas operationally affiliated to the Ministry of Municipalities or the Council for Shared Services must be improved in order to reduce the random dumping of tanks transporting Zebar, which poses a real threat to surface and groundwater In various regions of Jordan.


They agreed that the Ministry of Environment would fix the coordinates of olive presses in the Kingdom, in addition to identifying and identifying the tanks that transport zebars to the Ministry of Environment, and so that the Syndicate of Olive Presses Owners, the Ministry of Municipalities and the Shared Services Council provide the Ministry of Environment with special information so that the Ministry can track the tanks that transport Zebars from the mill. And until it reaches the landfill specified for the offering.

 

This came during the seminar "Challenges Related to Transporting Zebar Water Resulting from Olive Presses", which was held jointly by the Water, Energy and Environment Center at the University of Jordan and the Water and Environment Committee at the Jordanian Engineers Association.


The director of the Water, Energy and Environment Center, Dr. Khaldoun Shatnawi said that the seminar aims to present the challenges that the Ministry of Environment and the Royal Administration faces to protect the environment by controlling the private sector during Al-Zibar water transport operations, and to put forward common solutions, taking into account the views of decision-makers in the relevant official institutions. And the Syndicate of olive press owners.

 


In this context, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Water Authority, Eng. Ahmed Alimat, affirmed that the random dumping of Al-Zibar water and the failure of tanker drivers to put water in the designated places caused significant negative effects on the efficiency of the southern Amman and Al-Meada stations for treating wastewater during the current olive press season.


In his turn, Assistant Secretary-General at the Ministry of Environment, Engineer Hussein Shaheen, explained how the tracking system for tanks, which the ministry made to monitor most of the tanks in Jordan, works, in addition to the challenges related to controlling the transport process.


The Assistant Secretary-General at the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Jamal Al-Batsh, said that the Ministry is working to monitor and follow up the presses and carry out periodic and unannounced inspection tours to ensure and verify that the presses' owners adhere to the environmental requirements for the collection and storage of zibar water and other waste products.


The Vice President of the Engineers Syndicate, Engineer Fawzi Massaad, stressed the need to define and define the tanks that carry out the transfer of zebar in order to facilitate the process of controlling them by the Ministry of Environment and the Royal Administration for the Protection of the Environment.


In another context, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Syndicate of Olive Presses Owners and the Royal Administration for the Protection of the Environment stressed the need to take into account the creation of dumps for Zebar and close to the presses' communities in order to reduce the cost of transportation and tighten control of tanks so that violations are avoided.
