The Water, Energy and Environment Center at the University of Jordan, in cooperation with the German Agency (GIZ), held an awareness seminar on decentralized wastewater treatment and its applications within local communities
According to Dr. Maha Halalsha; The researcher in the Center for Water, Energy and the Environment at the university has organized awareness seminars in the field of decentralized management in the field of wastewater targeting different sectors of Jordanian society
She added that the symposium was held with the aim of increasing public awareness of small wastewater treatment plants and providing opportunities for reuse by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation under the title “Decentralized Wastewater Management Policy 2016
During the symposium, the halalha clarified the concepts of centralized management and decentralized wastewater management, as well as evoked a historical overview of both models and concepts
The seminar included a video material showing two applications for the small stations in Jordan in each of the Moqabaleen area, especially the Public Security Directorate and the Dana reserve, where the Feynan hostel is located
The participants paid a field visit to a small treatment plant belonging to the Water, Energy and Environment Center at the University of Jordan
In conclusion, the director of the center, Dr. Khaldoun Shatnawi, distributed the certificates to the participants, and the discussion was opened
