Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research at the University of Jordan organized a lecture entitled “An Introduction to Strategic Science Communication” presented by the "Professor Iain Stewart" the El Hassan bin Talal Research Chair in Sustainability at the Royal Scientific Society (Jordan), Professor of Geoscience Communication at the University of Plymouth (UK) and the UNESCO Chair for Geoscience and Society.
The lecturer talked about and discussed why academics, researchers and students should communicate science to the public, and how they should do it.
He explained the importance of scientific communication and discussed the obstacles to “communicating science” as well as institutional barriers. He pointed out a number of strategies to make communication between the scientist and the public effective, while emphasizing the necessity of understanding the target audience and using appropriate means for it. .
The event, which ended with answers to questions and inquiries, was attended by the Director of the Center, Prof. Dr. Reda Al-Khawaldeh, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Munawar Al-Tarakiya, and a group of students and researchers from the Center and all university colleges.
