The Women's Studies Center participated in the international forum titled "Emerging Research in Social and Human Sciences: Reality and Challenges" and in the proceedings of the Second International Conference, entitled "Algeria after 70 Years: Challenges of Renewing Knowledge in Social and Human Sciences," organized by the Research Center in Social and Cultural Anthropology in Oran, Algeria.
Dr. Amal Al-Awwad, Director of the Center, presented a research paper during the conference titled "Arab Feminist Discourse through the Duality of Knowledge Production and Feminist Activism: Jordan as a Model."
The conference aimed to discuss the current and future challenges in the field of social and human sciences, focusing on the role of academic institutions in knowledge production and improving the quality of education. The scientific program included seven main themes, which consisted of morning lectures and discussion sessions:
- Memory, history, and their social, cultural, and political stakes after seventy years of revolution.
- The question of citizenship, new elites, and the issue of recognition.
- Social imagination and cultural heritage: issues of language and translation.
- Socialization institutions: the stakes of knowledge production and challenges of educational quality.
- Regions, living spaces, and migrations: quality of life in balance.
- Emerging research: topics of education and its stakes.
- Translation and naming systems: renewed linguistic questions.
The conference sessions featured interventions from officials and representatives of national and international research institutions, associations, and organizations, discussing the challenges and prospects facing research in the human and social sciences.
The closing ceremony of the conference included the exchange of honors between the participating organizations and the Research Center in Social Anthropology.
